Since the success of the Good Friday Agreement just over 25 years ago, Northern Ireland has gone from strength to strength as a World-leading exemplar of economic and academic growth. As Northern Ireland’s capital city, Belfast is spearheading the Region’s progress, boasting a vibrant metropolitan atmosphere to welcome international delegates. At the heart of Belfast’s community is Queen’s University Belfast, a Russell Group University ranked 85th in the world for Higher Education Impact, and whose activities make a multi-billion-pound contribution to the UK economy. Notably, Queen’s plays host to world-leading disciplinary centres including the Centre for Public Health (host), the Patrick G. Johnson Centre for Cancer Research, and the Institute of Global Food Security. The city is steeped in history, with its industrial heritage of linen production, and of course, boasting the birthplace of the RMS Titanic. In its more recent past, Northern Ireland served as the filming location for many of the iconic scenes in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, lending itself to local tourism.
